About CCCCA
Mission
The Crawford County Community Concert Association (CCCCA) is an all volunteer (mostly) musical arts organization that works to bring to Crawford County and North Central Ohio the finest entertainment for audiences of all ages. We work to keep our offerings as family friendly and family affordable as possible while helping to make the communities we serve better…one concert at a time.
History
The CCCCA has its origins as the Bucyrus Community Concert Association that was formed in 1944 but was inactive from 1951-1955 and again from 1959-1976. The Concert Association’s goal is to pool our collective talents and resources on a county wide basis.
Our “home stage” is in the “historically significant” Bucyrus Elementary School Auditorium located at 245 Woodlawn Ave., Bucyrus, OH. This is the largest auditorium in the county and has just over 900 available seats for each performance. A major $600,000 privately funded auditorium restoration and renovation was completed in 2001. The Concert Association and its leadership were major players in that effort.
The current Bucyrus Elementary School building, was built in 1920 -1922 “over and around” the old Union School that was built in the late 1860’s for grades 1-12. This historic building was extensively updated in 2009. These improvements were part of an $18 million renovation and restoration which sought to add state of the art teaching aids and amenities while preserving the early 20th century architecture and charm like the 100+ year old art glass in the auditorium and front building entrances.
Prior shows have included a wide variety of artists including: Glen Campbell, The Letterman, Glenn Miller Orchestra, The Oak Ridge Boys, Artrageous, GENTRI, Floyd Cramer, Pam Tillis, the Toledo Symphony Orchestra, The Gatlins, Lee Greenwood, Melissa Manchester, Phil Dirt & the Dozers, Ethan Bortnick, Dallas String Quartet, Linda Davis, The Texas Tenors, The Ohio State University Marching Band and The OSU Men’s Glee Club but to name a few.
Our Board of Directors is also a volunteer Board whose 27 members come from all over Crawford County and all walks of life. Each member is elected from a list provided by a nominating committee to three-year staggered terms. The duties of the board include selection of officers and final selections of our 5-show season from 20-30 screened recommendations from our Program Coordinator.
We welcome you to become a member and see what it’s all about!
